Film Fest
TWO CATEGORIES: “Why Schenectady” Documentary
OR “Open Fiction”.
“Why Schenectady” Documentary: Films NOT TO EXCEED 20 MINUTES celebrating
the history or story of a person, invention, institution, work of architecture,
event, sports legend, place of natural beauty, or the like, past or present,
that is directly related to the City or Towns of Schenectady County. Some examples:
Erie Blvd as Erie Canal; Charles Steinmetz; Elizabeth Gillette; Gold Medalist
Jeff Blatnick; Heritage Foundation; the 1690 Massacre; the “Onrust” replica
ship-building project.
“ Open Fiction”: Films NOT TO EXCEED 30 MINUTES with language and
nudity restrictions of the PG-13 Rated movie standard. Otherwise, WE MEAN “OPEN”.
Examples include: mini-thriller; political satire; sitcom pilot; comedy; clay-mation;
animation; fantasy; drama; nihilist expressionism, whatever!
OUR HOME IS PROCTORS: The
Festival will be held on Thursday, October
23rd, 2008, at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady
from 3pm-11pm. All Finalists will be shown
that day, and prizes awarded at the end of
each category.
JUDGING: A panel of volunteer
judges will be chosen for each category.
They will select the finalists and winners.
Judges are members of the greater Capital
District, who are distinguished in the area
of Arts/Film/Television/Theatre.
ENTRIES: All entries must
be in DVD format. There is a $15 Entry Fee,
which must accompany submission. Go to our
website for application and all other info.
All entries will be aired on Channel 16-Schenectady
at least once! Deadline will be in the end
of September, exact date TBA this summer.
